What is it with teachers and punctuation?

It seems like half the teachers I take a class from online have some "fun and exciting" uses of punctuation (Read: wrong. Horribly wrong.).

One of my current teachers (Not, thank god, the one teaching Shakespeare!) has a tendency to end all her sentences with ellipses... There seems to be some sort of mad logic to it: it's almost always the last sentence in her paragraph or message board post. All the same, it drives me mad; I'm not sure I'll last till the end of the term without mentioning it.
