These are just some ideas for stories (all original) I have lying around in my brain (and on my hard drive). Think of this as a poll... which of these would you like to see written? (Oh, don't mind the titles... I was being random.)
(1) Doorway to elsewhere
"My hand touched the doorknob and I was struck by a strange thought. What if, when I opened the door, there was something besides my familiar hallway behind it? Even as I laughed at myself for the ridiculous idea, my mind held onto it and started imagining the endless variety of worlds that could lie on the other side of my bedroom door. After allowing myself a few moments to dream, I pulled open the door, and saw a field of crimson flowers stretching out before my shocked eyes."
(2) Gender roles are overrated
"All Mic wants is to find a fair maiden to live happily ever after with, just like in his favorite ballads. The lovelorn bard rescues a beautiful girl, but the damsel in distress turns out to be a cross-dressing prince who is on the run from his family. Mic is dragged into an adventure he doesn't want when he is accused of kidnapping the "princess." They are joined by an ice-cold mage and an overly friendly demon who add to the gender confusion and make Mic start to wonder if he's the only normal person in the entire world...."
(3) Evil mage vs. evil bitch, prize: one sexy slave boy
"In a society ruled solely by females, a renegade male mage is attempting to change the social structure, or at least live in peace and luxury. His plans for a takeover go awry when he decides that he wants to have the most beautiful slave dancer for himself. The slave, a young man named Seriph, is owned by the society's leader, a powerful woman who will not give him up without a fight. Seriph doesn't care who he belongs to, but everything changes when love replaces the desire for power in the mage's heart."
[note: This sounds like a crappy romance novel, but it's about half and half romance and action]
(4) Emotionless assassin seeks death, will kill for money
"Alexander, formerly servant and currently assassin for hire, is a very unusual man. He has no love for money or power, spending his days and nights seeking someone can surpass him in battle and kill him. Alexander has travelled for years, and his desire for death is waning. Is there anything in the world that can save a heart that is dead and emotionless?"
[note: I wrote a first person story with Alexander, and I'm wondering if I should continue/rewrite it]
(5) It's so hard to be an angsty winged rock singer
"Semi-successful rock musician Zephyr lives in a world divided into two classes: human and neohuman. The pure humans rule over the world of half human, half creature beings, and the entire society is controlled by a single man with a complicated past that no one knows anything about. Zephyr's simple life is turned upside down when that man, Lucifer Ferris, takes a sudden interest in him. Whispered rumors and and Lucifer's hints draw Zephyr into a mystery that involves his past and the structure of the society he lives in."
[note: One tiny part of this is written, but I have enough ideas to make this thing pretty long]
(6) Why yes, he is the world's biggest pain in the ass
"Kobi is the owner of a small coffee shop. She is sitting at her shop after hours moping about her unhappy life when she is drawn outside by a noise on the roof. She meets Liandal and Majira, two sorcerers. Liandal is running from the law (and Majira) and Kobi decides to let him stay with her, on the condition that he works in the cafe. Unfortunately, Liandal is well known, and supernatural beings frequent the cafe from the first day he works there. Can Kobi run her business and keep Liandal out of trouble at the same time, or at least find a boyfriend that won't run off to work for a rival coffee shop?"
[another partially written one]
(7) Don't ever listen to the scary old lady
"Mikell, a demon slayer, finds himself suddenly in need of new career options when a crystal causes him to switch bodies with Serdi, a high-ranking demon. With no known cure for their body exchange, the two distrustful men decide to stick together until they can find one. They quickly find that they will have to learn to get along if they want to survive, let alone get back into their own bodies again."
Well? Any of these sound interesting to anyone? Do they all suck and I should never write again? Can I get some feedback over here, please?
